Keith Evans: I agree with you on most of this but you are wrong that Sanders’ plan does not include taxes on the middle class. His plan recommends a “premium” on M4A policies for all but the poorest families. Since the “premium” is compulsory, outside analysts like RAND’s Liu consider it a tax. She estimates revenue from the tax/premium at a nontrivial $778 billion per year. If you read my linked paper on the affordability of UCC, you will see why I do not like the tax/premium feature of M4A.
