KE: It would be hard to miss your point that “ ‘Finding’ the money is never a problem for the monopoly issuer of the currency.” etc. etc. You repeat that in every response to every story I write regardless of topic, so I think I and other readers are familiar with it now.

I thought that the interesting and constructive thing about your original comment was to note that in order to introduce a large-scale new program, we should not focus solely on “finding” “money” but also on whether or not the country has the necessary real resources. That is a point that serious MMT writers make but which is often missed by “man-on-the-street” versions of MMT, so I was glad you introduced it.

Of course, we should also think about any secondary distributional effects of taxes, as you say.
