Excellent article. One of the aspects of climate doomism that troubles me, as an economist, is the belief that climate change will destroy the global economy. Yes, climate change will harm the economy, but neither mainstream climate science or mainstream economic science predict that it will destroy it. (For an explanation of why, see here: https://www.niskanencenter.org/will-climate-change-destroy-global-economy/ )
Unfortunately, the false notion that climate change will bring the economy to a standstill, or worse, throw us back into the stone age, gives the impression that we cannot "afford" to undertake needed investments in adaptation and mitigation. That, in turn, makes it less likely that we will do what needs to be done.
