Chart of the Day: US Unemployment by Duration

As of December 2016, US unemployment rates have recovered almost fully from the effects of the Great Recession. The chart shows that short-term unemployment rates, 0–4 weeks and 5–14 weeks, are actually below their prerecession levels while longer-term unemployment rates (15 weeks and longer) have almost fully recovered.
